While gripped by bitter cold like most of the country right now, the weather is looking more manageable for the AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.

Temperatures will cross the freezing mark during the day, but be back below 32 degrees by kickoff when the conference’s top teams battle for a berth in the Super Bowl. Both teams are familiar with outdoor winter conditions, so it should be even footing in regard to field conditions.

Kansas City weather for Bills vs. Chiefs game

The National Weather Service in Kansas City, Missouri calls for partly sunny skies and a high of 34 degrees during the day on Jan. 26. By the evening, temperatures will drop as low as 19 degrees with skies becoming cloudier.

The AccuWeather forecast calls for an evening temperature of 25 degrees, with a 25% probability of precipitation and partly cloudy skies. Winds should be around the NFL average of 7 mph, indicating little-to-no impact on the passing or kicking games.

How Bills vs. Chiefs weather will impact odds, betting

The Chiefs are favored by 1.5 points in the AFC Championship game, a narrow advantage for the home team and two-time defending champions. The over/under is set at 47.5 points, per BetMGM Sportsbook.

A review of the 40 coldest games between 2009 and 2022 by Sharp Football Analysis found the over hit in 58% of games, though the average line was set at 42.4 points. In games between 2003 and 2021 with temperatures colder than 30 degrees, betting the over has hit 59.2% of the time, according to Action Network.

The Bills and Baltimore Ravens combined for a narrow over in their Divisional Round matchup, with 52 points scored to the over/under of 51.5.
