The Lions, Packers are two suitors who could emerge in the latest Maxx Crosby trade buzz this offseason. The NFL is embracing a busy offseason and that will likely include the Las Vegas Raiders trading their best pass rusher. Crosby has been teasing he could request a trade after his comments in an interview about a month ago that it’s getting difficult for him. Although the Raiders are heading in the right direction after hiring head coach Pete Carroll, Crosby did mention it will be up to Las Vegas if they want to trade him and he’s simply in the league to play football.
However, it’s easy to see why the Lions could be a suitor for the star pass rusher. The team lost embarrassingly to the Commanders where most of their secondary unit was out and Aidan Hutchinson went down earlier this 2024 campaign with a season-ending injury. Crosby made a tweet cheering on for the Detroit Pistons and while that might just be speculation, it was enough to stir the trade rumors a little further. As for the Packers, it’s fair to say they could cornerback Jaire Alexander in return for Crosby but it’s going to take a little more than that to happen.
The only way for the Raiders to trade their best defensive player on the roster and that would include several first-round picks and a capable offensive player in return. Las Vegas are at the start of rebuilding and they need all the weapons they can get to speed up the process. However, teams like the Chargers, Panthers might have intriguing offers they can’t turn down.

New Trenches Era
Rebuilding a new passing offense for Quarterback Justin Herbert will be one of their priorities but they won’t excel any further without addressing their defensive pass rush. Khalil Mack will likely be a uniform and Joey Bosa is a cap casualty, so this means the Chargers will have to find a new fresh armory to help Jim Harbaugh’s philosophy of winning in the trenches. Poona Ford has a chance to return but since they have an inconsistent wide receiver Quentin Johnston on offense, they could use him as a trade bait.
Perhaps, the Chargers could offer him a trade package in return for Crosby. However, it’s going to take more than just Johnston alone to complete the prize. Los Angeles could give up two first-round picks and a future third-round pick to spice up the deal. As the Raiders are rebuilding, this could be an offer that the team probably wouldn’t mind and they can probably fix Johnston into a capable receiver in a new scenery.
Rebuilding from Scratch
Head Coach Dave Canales will head into another offseason of rebuilding for the entire roster. However, they spent the majority of the time finding capable wide receivers for Bryce Young. Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker are two promising cornerstone pass catchers they could use some of their defensive veterans as bait. Perhaps, since there has been speculation about Jadeveon Clowney’s future, they could pair him with Miles Sanders and wide receiver Adam Thielen in a package along with two first-round picks.
The hope is that Crosby could have the potential to pair formidable defensive trenches when Derrick Brown returns. This deal may work since the Panthers have yet to address the defense last offseason as much as they did with the offense.
