GREEN BAY, Wis. — Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison, a projected first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has his sights set on Green Bay. Speaking on The Draft Insider Podcast Monday, the star defender didn’t mince words: “The Packers are where I want to be—it’s a dream to play at Lambeau.”
Morrison, 21, brings a resume that’s hard to ignore: 9 interceptions, 18 pass deflections, and a stingy 44.1 passer rating against over three seasons (NFL Draft Files). His 2024 season ended early with a hip injury, but the 6-foot, 190-pound ballhawk’s tape—highlighted by six picks as a freshman—has him ranked among the top-20 prospects (PFF). “I grew up a Packers fan,” he said. “Jordan Love’s offense is electric—I’d love to lock down that secondary.”
The timing aligns with Green Bay’s needs. Jaire Alexander’s future is shaky amid trade buzz and a $25.48 million cap hit (Over The Cap), while Eric Stokes bolted for the Raiders. Nate Hobbs and Rasul Douglas bolster the room, but Morrison’s man-to-man skills could anchor Jeff Hafley’s scheme (web ID: 25). At No. 23 overall, the Packers are within striking distance—or a slight trade-up—of landing him.
Fan reaction on X split: “Morrison’s a game-changer—make it happen!” (@PackFaithful) versus “Another injury gamble? No thanks” (@LambeauVoice). GM Brian Gutekunst, with $40 million in cap space and a knack for big moves (Rodgers trade, 2023), has the flexibility to pounce. Morrison’s medicals—especially that hip—loom as a wild card, but his Packers fandom adds intrigue.
With the draft a month away at Lambeau, Morrison’s bold wish has Green Bay buzzing. Could he be the shutdown CB to pair with Love’s rising star? Gutekunst’s next call might tell the tale.
