SCOOP: Kellen Moore Sends Message to Howie Roseman About Trading Eagles TE Star

Philadelphia, PA – March 27, 2025, 09:45 AM PDT
New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore has reportedly reached out to Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman to express interest in trading for star tight end Dallas Goedert, sources told ESPN on Thursday. Moore, who served as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator in 2024 before taking the Saints’ top job in February, is said to be eager to reunite with Goedert to bolster his new team’s offense.

Goedert, 30, is in the final year of a 4-year, $57 million contract with a $12 million cap hit in 2025 and no guaranteed money remaining. The Eagles have been open to trading him, seeking at least a fourth-round pick, amid rumors of a roster shakeup following their Super Bowl LIX victory. Goedert recorded 42 receptions for 496 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2024, despite missing 7 games due to injury, and added 215 playoff yards, showcasing his value as a top-tier TE.

Moore, who orchestrated the Eagles’ record-breaking 2024 offense with 608 points, reportedly told Roseman, “Dallas is the piece we need to jumpstart our attack,” per ESPN sources. The Saints, coming off a 2-7 start in 2024 under former coach Dennis Allen, lack a reliable tight end after Juwan Johnson became a free agent and Foster Moreau suffered an injury. Moore’s familiarity with Goedert from their time in Philly makes the TE an ideal fit for his system.

The Saints have two fourth-round picks (2025 and 2026) to meet the Eagles’ asking price, but their $54 million cap deficit may require salary adjustments to absorb Goedert’s cap hit. Eagles fans on X are divided. “Don’t trade Goedert—he’s a playoff beast!” posted @PhillyFanatic. Another fan countered, “A fourth-rounder for a 30-year-old TE? Take it!” (@EaglesNation). As trade talks heat up, Roseman faces a pivotal decision.
