Williamson County, TX – On March 11, 2025, police in Williamson County, Texas, arrested Tia Jones, the fiancée of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy, on charges of extortion and filing false allegations tied to a recent domestic dispute. The arrest comes just days after Worthy was cleared of felony domestic violence charges that had briefly put his reputation in jeopardy.
Jones, 24, was taken into custody on Monday morning, March 10, following the emergence of new evidence. The saga began on Friday, March 7, when Worthy was arrested based on Jones’ claim that he had assaulted her by impeding her breathing or circulation. However, the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office, led by Shawn Dick, dropped the charges the next day after independent witnesses and additional evidence supported Worthy’s innocence. He was released on Saturday, March 8, and later posted a selfie on Instagram Story with the caption “New beginnings,” sporting a freshly shaved head as a sign of renewal.
Worthy’s legal team, Sam Bassett and Chip Lewis, had accused Jones of attempting to extort the NFL star after he asked her to leave his home upon discovering her infidelity. They provided police with video evidence from a private investigator showing Jones’ unfaithfulness, as well as photos of scratches on Worthy’s face and damaged property allegedly caused by her. “She refused to leave, lashed out, and then tried to leverage false accusations for financial gain,” the attorneys stated. Independent witnesses reportedly corroborated Worthy’s version of events, painting him as the victim.
The arrest has sparked a wave of support from Chiefs fans. “Xavier didn’t deserve this mess—glad the truth came out,” one fan wrote on X. Another added, “He’s a young star with a bright future. Let’s move past this.”
Jones is currently held at Williamson County Jail, facing potential felony charges of extortion and perjury. Her initial hearing is set for later this week. Meanwhile, Worthy, who posted 59 receptions, 638 yards, and 9 touchdowns in his rookie season, appears ready to refocus on football as the Chiefs prepare for 2025.
