Pittsburgh Steelers likely lose promising rookie wide receiver for season after injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers may not get wide receiver Roman Wilson back again this season. After aggravating a hamstring in practice back in November, Wilson still has not been designated to return from injured reserve, and as such, he has not returned to practice.

In his latest chat, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac is not sure if Wilson will return again this season, in fact, he says that his prospects are far more of a 2025 thing than something that will help the Steelers late this season.

“He has missed all of training camp and nearly all of this season. He is not going to play because he is not ready. Next year,” Dulac said.

Wilson’s hamstring may heal, but his only appearance in one game, along with the high ankle sprain that cost him nearly two months in the team development process, will mean he is so far behind the rest of the team that it might not make sense to even play him at this point.

Wilson, the team’s third-round pick out of Michigan, had high expectations this season, and the Steelers felt that he could jump in as a solution in the slot at some point this season, but injuries have wrecked Wilson’s rookie season.
