A linebacker is back where he belongs. The Green Bay Packers re-signed a Wisconsin native and special-teams ace on Thursday, 213 days after stunningly cutting him despite a monster preseason. It’s a second chance for the 26-year-old to chase his childhood dream—and fix a Packers roster gaffe.
The linebacker lit up last August’s preseason, racking up 14 solo tackles, 2 picks, and a fumble recovery—numbers screaming 53-man roster lock. Packers Nation figured he’d made it. Nope. Green Bay didn’t keep him, not even for the practice squad. “I gave everything,” he said then, per X. He landed brief stints with the Denver Broncos (6 games) and Baltimore Ravens (9 games), emerging as a special-teams stud in Baltimore by year’s end.
Now, he’s home. The Packers needed linebacker depth beyond Edgerrin Cooper, Quay Walker, and Isaiah McDuffie—second-year Ty’Ron Hopper’s barely seen the field. But his ticket punches through special teams. With Eric Wilson’s 321 snaps bolting to the Vikings in free agency, Rich Bisaccia’s unit has a hole—and this linebacker fits the bill.
“Should’ve never let him go,” one fan tweeted. Last summer’s snub stung, but his grit earned him this shot. He’s no star—yet—but his hustle could lock down a roster spot. Packers faithful are buzzing: “Wisconsin kid gets his redo—let’s go!” With training camp looming, he’s back to prove Green Bay got it wrong once—and won’t again.
