Nick Sirianni is noncommittal on Eagles, Saquon Barkley chasing NFL rushing record

The Eagles are 13-3 and locked into the No. 2 seed after Saquon Barkley‘s big day fueled a 41-7 win over the Cowboys in Week 17.

The win clinched the NFC East for Nick Sirianni’s team, while Saquon Barkley sits 101 yards away from Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards set in 1984.

After Philadelphia’s win, Sirianni was noncommittal about Barkley getting a shot to chase the record.

A team with Super Bowl aspirations has experience managing players’ workload down the stretch without costing the team its edge. After Philadelphia clinched the NFC East or No. 2 seed before Week 18, they are now six minutes from having no shot at the Lions, with Minnesota leading Green Bay late in the fourth quarter. A Vikings win over Detroit in Week 18 would give Minnesota the NFC South and the No. 1 seed.

Would head coach Nick Sirianni risk a potential injury to his All-World running back? Without the No. 1 seed remaining in play, will Philadelphia risk their All-Pro running back and MVP candidate in a meaningless game against his former team?
