Bill Belichick might be the GOAT as head coach in the NFL, but that does not mean it did not come with a ton of mistakes along the way.
Belichick’s record of offensive draft picks in the past 10 years with the Patriots has been shaky. N’Keal Harry arguably contributed to that poor draft history.
That was just one mistake of many.
The New England Patriots drafted the Arizona State product with the final pick of the first round in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Fans were in shock that the team took him over wideouts such as Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown, DK Metcalf, Diontae Johnson, and Terry McLaurin.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer once detailed a report on the turmoil inside New England during Bill Belichick’s final season.
Belichick made a crucial error in judgment in 2019 regarding Brown and Deebo, and it involved them having too much fun.
REMINDER:
Bill Belichick didn’t draft AJ Brown or Deebo Samuel because he thought they were having too much fun on a visit

“Before that draft, Patriots scouts were high on (South Carolina’s) Deebo Samuel and (Ole Miss’s) A.J. Brown. The two came to Foxborough together on a visit and had been traveling together all week,” Breer wrote. “As such, they had a good, jovial ability to poke at each other and laugh together, and Belichick was leery that they weren’t taking the visit seriously enough.”
The two players having too much fun led to the team being fixated on wide receiver N’Keal Harry of Arizona State. Harry lasted just three years with New England, while Samuel and Brown now have a combined four Pro Bowls.
Bill Belichick Has a New Task In College

Bill Belichick won six Super Bowl titles as the head coach of the New England Patriots and is now the head coach at North Carolina.
There is history there.
Belichick spent three of the first four years of his life in Chapel Hill, while his father, Steve, served as an assistant coach at UNC from 1953 to 55.
The six-time Super Bowl champion head coach will not have much pressure from a program that has won double-digit games just once since 1998.
