The Baltimore Ravens Could Target Delaware Running Back Marcus Yarns To Sure Up Their RB Room In The 2025 Draft.
Lamar Jackson fell short of making the Super Bowl once again, and his team is going to be looking for help in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. One potential late-round fit for the Baltimore Ravens could be Delaware RB Marcus Yarns.
The Baltimore Ravens Should Target Delaware RB Marcus Yarns In The 2025 NFL Draft’s Later Rounds
Derrick Henry’s greatness is unquestionable, and his presence in the Baltimore Ravens‘ offense is impossible to ignore. Putting him in the same backfield as two-time NFL Most Valuable Player Lamar Jackson proved to be a dangerous combination, but the Ravens once again found themselves exiting the playoffs early. As the 2025 NFL season concludes and eyes begin to turn toward the NFL Draft, plenty of intriguing options could aid their championship push.
A Potential Answer
A slew of players have filled the team’s RB2 role, but they have yet to see any substantial receiving production out of their backs. One player who could instantly change that is Delaware running back Marcus Yarns. The FCS product is known for his innate ability to get vertical in the receiving game and traits to create chunk plays at any time. He was highly productive in his time with the Blue Hens, with over 1,000 all-purpose yards in each of the last two seasons.
Turning on Yarns’ tape immediately reveals a player with Kenneth Gainwell-esque skills with flashes of brilliance as bother a runner and receiver. His reliable hands and filthy first cuts profile him as a Day-1 contributor in many NFL offenses. He works vertically with a level of smoothness and nuance Baltimore hasn’t seen in some time from their RB room. The true senior currently projects as a mid-to-late round selection and wouldn’t cost the team valuable draft capital.
He earned All-Conference honors at the end of the 2024 season and carried his strong momentum into a Reese’s Senior Bowl invite. Once Yarns got to Mobile, he was firing on all cylinders. He simply couldn’t be covered as a receiver and the burst he showed on tape was extremely visible every time he touched the ball. His performances throughout the week stayed consistently elite and was a clear riser at the event.
Putting it bluntly, the pressure is rising for the Baltimore Ravens to get over the hump and finally win the big game in the playoffs. Until that happens, free agency and the draft will need to be focal points for the organization to find its next major contributors. They still have several RBs under contract for the 2025 season, but it might be time to raise the ceiling of their depth backs with Marcus Yarns.
The Bottom Line
Yarns would bring excitement and explosive ability to an offense lacking receiving production out of the backfield. RB2 isn’t necessarily among Baltimore’s biggest current needs, but the Delaware back has “draft steal” written all over him and could be worth much more than the projected late-round pick it would take to get him. As the draft inches closer and the team’s plans form, Yarns is a name Ravens fans should get familiar with.
