In the NFL’s Week 14, the (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs are hosting the (8-4) Los Angeles Chargers in an AFC West showdown on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m. on KSHB/41.
With a victory, the Chiefs would claim their 15th division title since the AFL and NFL merged in 1970. The Denver Broncos have also won 15, while the Las Vegas Raiders have claimed 13 and the Chargers have accumulated 10. (The Seattle Seahawks won two AFC West titles before moving to the NFC West in 2002).
It would also be Kansas City’s ninth straight division title. That’s the second-longest streak in the modern era. The New England Patriots won 11 straight AFC East crowns from 2009-2019.
Both teams have registered single-score wins in two of their last three matchups. In Week 11, the Chiefs suffered a 30-21 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. Since then, they have collected a 30-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers and a 19-17 win against the Raiders. The Chargers recorded a 34-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11 before dropping a 30-23 decision to the Baltimore Ravens and registering a 17-13 win against the Atlanta Falcons.
