A dismissal has been filed in Florida in the wrongful death lawsuit of former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Rick Ellsley, the attorney of Haskins’ wife, Kalabrya, issued a statement Thursday morning.

The case was dismissed, and settlements were reached between the parties.

“All of the settlements that were obtained have now been paid and so the wrongful death case has now been closed,” Ellsley said in the statement.

Haskins was killed in April 2022 after he was struck by a dump truck on a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, highway. He was in Florida for training sessions with his teammates. At the time of his death, Haskins was 24.

A partial settlement was reached between the Haskins family and the driver of the truck, owner of the truck, and broker of the vehicle in 2023. The lawsuit claimed the dump truck was being driven recklessly.

Haskins was drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. He signed with the Steelers in 2021, making the roster as the QB2 for most of the season.

A standout at Ohio State, Haskins won Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 after a breakout campaign. In his two years in Washington, he threw for 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions with 2804 passing yards.
